This trend is constantly evolving and is made up of a series of ideas and concepts, taking the organic to a whole new dimension.

If you need new inspiration in terms of decorating styles and interior trends, the year 2023 will revive your idea of decorating for wellbeing in the home. Here are some of the most interesting interior design trends to look out for in 2023 and beyond.

Biophilia in the bedroom

Biophilic designs continue to grow in popularity, in fact, we are preparing a new article on this trend, which fascinates us so much so that you can get to know all its possibilities and benefits. The room that will undoubtedly receive the focus of all things natural in 2023 is the bedroom, just take a look at the searches for “biophilic bedroom design” which are doubling in number on Pinterest at an astonishingly fast rate.

Similarly, everything related to the sleep category is on the rise in a variety of markets, including technology, supplements, health foods and wearables. People care more about sleep and wellness than ever before. From sleep trackers and supplements to adjustable bed frames that promote a good night’s rest, we seem to be hooked on perfecting our napping game, and what better way to unwind than with soothing nature as a backdrop?

Biophilic bedroom décor is also a favourite choice for mums and dads. Woodland murals are one of the best ways to inspire their imagination and get their creative juices flowing.

Eye-catching arches

In our previous article we told you about the “curved furniture” trend that is causing such a sensation, so we wanted to tell you about this other trend that is not based on the furniture, but on the structure of the house itself. There are infinite ways of creating ever more stylised arches that make spaces visually very powerful, whether in the form of doors, windows, mirrors, paint or wallpaper effects, etc.

Arches represent strength and support, creating a powerful and timeless symbol, with striking transitions as it flows and moves through your space. As visual elements, arches can frame a design element, drawing attention to a specific area of the room.

This example of a mural combines nature with pleasing curves, creating a window/lookout effect that helps a room appear larger and more exciting – a real winner!

Lavender amplified and “digital

According to WGSN, the colour of the year in 2023 will be “digital lavender”. It is a light shade of violet that expresses two types of emotions: joy and calm. By applying this colour in the home, you can create a relaxing and uplifting atmosphere at the same time.

You will always learn something fascinating from our articles, it is amazing to be able to share them with more and more people, because our job is to be up to date and to make your home magical and full of energy. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for always reading us, it inspires us and motivates us to keep improving every day.

Back to what’s happening, research tells us that colours with a shorter wavelength, such as light purples, evoke feelings of serenity. At the same time, purple exudes luxury and sophistication, while remaining gender-neutral and inclusive. It also has deep connections to nature, which can be very grounding, making it ideal for every room in the house.

Benefits of plants in the home and bedroom

We have already summarised the new 2023 trend which will be Biophilia, arches, curved furniture, the colour “digital lavender” and now we would like to conclude the article by mentioning the benefits that plants can bring you in the home, of which there are many.

First of all, you should get rid of certain preconceived ideas about plants in the home. The most widespread is that it is not advisable to have too many plants in the bedroom, as they “steal” oxygen during the night. Although it is true that when they photosynthesise, they “breathe” like us, the amount of carbon dioxide they expel is so small that you have nothing to fear. So don’t be misled by false myths: plants in the bedroom are just as good as in the rest of the house.

1. Plants in the home clean the air and regulate humidity

Plants expel carbon dioxide at night, but provide fresh oxygen during the rest of the day. They also absorb pollutant gases, improve and purify the air and make the room a little more humid. This is the case with the curly fern, which reduces dryness by releasing moisture. Other plants, on the other hand, limit the level of humidity, such as tillandsia.

2. Some plants eliminate mould spores

This is the case with spathiphyllum, which is often placed in the rooms with the highest humidity to combat it. It is very easy to maintain and actually prefers less light than other species, so the bathroom or kitchen are great places to place it.

3. A good therapy against stress

Plants are a good therapy against stress. They make you feel good, transmit wellbeing, tranquillity and happiness. What’s more, caring for them is sometimes a very stimulating challenge. If not, there are always online therapies.

4. Caring for plants at home boosts concentration

Plants such as bonsais, which require very specific care, help to improve concentration and when they succeed they make you feel proud as if you had raised them and you have done something similar! This explains why, after one successfully cared for bonsai, another and another comes along… until you end up with a good collection. It’s the same with orchids – plant care gets you hooked!

5. Plants at home reduce noise

Homes are more balanced and quiet when they have plants because they absorb noise and can reduce it slightly. However, don’t try to soundproof a room using plants because you won’t succeed. Their contribution is small, but important.

6. They have antiseptic and calming properties

We are referring to the properties of Aloe Vera, whose gel has a healing, antiseptic and soothing effect. It can be applied to burns and small wounds, taking advantage of the wonders of natural medicine. It likes to be outdoors and receive direct sunlight, so a terrace or balcony would be most suitable.

7. Plants turn your house into a home

From eye-catching species such as an Adam’s rib in the living room, to more practical and functional ones such as an aloe vera in the bathroom, or petunias and geraniums colouring the balcony. Plants turn your house into a real home, giving joy, colour and life, lots of life. In short: they make you feel at home.

8. Having plants at home is like having a natural air freshener.

The scent of certain types of flowers can be powerful enough to be perceived throughout the room. Peony, rose, lily, lavender or hyacinth are excellent examples of the type of plant that can be used both as an ornament and as an air freshener.

9. Aromatics always at hand

Having aromatic plants in the kitchen area is always a good idea, not only for their decorative function but also to provide us with something fresh to season our food. We could have coriander, basil, thyme, parsley or mint.

Learning from having plants at home

We usually already know the basics of the life cycle and the water cycle from our time at school, but a plant gives us the chance to step outside the pages of a book and watch it develop in real time. If there are children in the house, they are ideal for them to take responsibility for watering them or for them to learn about these subjects in an entertaining way.
