Maria Pergay

Pergay is pure talent, her career started in modernist France in the 50s and although her style is hard to label, we can guarantee you won’t be able to resist its magnetic allure.

Maria has always been breaking molds in the design industry, while her peers were creating functional pieces to cater for the Parisian urbanisation boom, she focused on designing unique pieces that had little to do with the predominant trends of the time.

Although she pioneered the introduction of stainless steel in domestic furnishing, she also favoured silver at the beginning of her career.

The past has always been part of Pergay’s present, this ability to blend different eras and styles are part of her signature. Her designs capture the essence of an abstract moment in time, materialising creative concepts in a marvellously plastic way.

Pergay’s enthusiasm is undeniable, and having created seventy new pieces in the last decade, her creative flow seems unstoppable. 88 years old, she is now working harder than ever to materialise her creative torrent which makes any of her pieces simply spectacular.

She’s the reference point in classical interior design, this New Yorker is considered one of the key figures as far as the intelligent integration between architectural spaces and interior design.

Now a member of the Board of Governors of the Parsons School of Design, which she graduated from in 1984, she recently endowed a scholarship for the newly formed MFA programme in Interior Design.

Victoria Hagan was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame. She has been awarded many of the USA’s top design honours, including Architectural Digest’s “Top 100”.

A home should be where you feel joy and happiness. It should feel like your own space, reflective of the spirit, life and loves of the people who live there.
